Well done, Durham County: between January 1st and May 3rd of this year, 7,118 new Democratic Party voters registered in Durham County. During the same time period, 2,192 new Unaffiliated voters registered. There are now over 105,000 registered Democrats in Durham County. Republican registrations have dropped by 191 voters since the first of the year, bringing the total of registered Republican voters in Durham County to just over 30,200. The initiative will specifically focus on increasing the participation of LGBT Democrats at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and on developing the participation of LGBT communities of color, union members, youth and veterans.
