As a participant in the Run to the Polls 5K, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
I know that running and walking, including in a group, are potentially hazardous activities that involve some risk of physical injury. I should only enter this event if I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the event. I assume all risks and recognize the potential for injury involved with running or walking in this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, road hazards and conditions, traffic, and the effects of weather, including high heat and/or humidity, low temperatures, and freezing conditions. I understand, appreciate, and accept all such risks.
Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I release Bull City Running Company LLC, the Durham County Democratic Party, all sponsors, and the employees, officers, and agents of the same, as well as race volunteers (“Released Parties”) from all actual or potential claims or liability for any injury or loss arising from or in any way related to my participation in this activity, including but not limited to my negligence or carelessness or the negligence or carelessness of the Released Parties. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from such claims, damages and costs including attorney’s fees. The release and duty to indemnify do not apply to the gross negligence or willful and wanton misconduct of the Released Parties.
I allow the publication of pictures in which I appear for event publicity and promotion. I accept the no refunds or transfers policy. In the unlikely event of an emergency medical concern, I consent to emergency medical treatment and transportation, if necessary, in order to obtain treatment as medical professionals may deem appropriate.
This agreement and release are given freely and voluntarily with a full understanding of my rights and responsibilities.
